Standing Outside the Fire

Ok, as promised, I've started writing again. Recently I've been challenged on a number of levels. I've felt like the months between October and February have been lived in a blur...I've felt numb, disconnected, overwhelmed, exhausted. But slowly the light is filtering through and I'm seeing clearly again...and beginning to enjoy my life again!
I've been thinking lately how easy it can be to slip into 'performance mode' - saying all the right stuff but not having it as a reality in your life (does that make sense to you?) I've felt like an unbelieving Believer - not really having the conviction that God will do what He says...in other words I've been playing it safe. The easy part is saying we believe in something, but if that's true, there will be evidence of that belief in your life.
So, I'm on a journey to become a whole-hearted believing Believer!
It's like the Garth Brooks song 'Standing Outside the Fire'

"We call them cool
Those hearts that have no scars to show
The ones that never do let go
And risk the tables being turned

We call them fools
Who have to dance within the flame
Who chance the sorrow and the shame
That always comes with getting burned

But you've got to be tough when consumed by desire
'Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire

We call them strong
Those who can face this world alone
Who seem to get by on their own
Those who will never take the fall

We call them weak
Who are unable to resist
The slightest chance love might exist
And for that forsake it all

They're so hell-bent on giving ,walking a wire
Convinced it's not living if you stand outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

There's this love that is burning
Deep in my soul
Constantly yearning to get out of control
Wanting to fly higher and higher
I can't abide
Standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire"

Really think about those words...I was so far away from the fire, I could hardly see the smoke! It's time to burn white hot again, to have that fire consume me, to really live - "Life is not tried, it is merely survived If you're standing outside the fire" I don't want to just 'survive' I want to make a difference, to affect and infect, to be the voice crying in the wilderness, to go where no-one else can be bothered to go...and remember if you've been burned in the past, God has promised beauty for ashes - so what have we got to lose? Burn brightly folks x
