What God has got going on in your life right now is beyond what you have even understood. It’s bigger than you’ve seen, about more people than you’ve known, about places you’ve never been to yet, conversations you’ve never had yet – what God is doing in your life is far greater in it’s consequence, outcome, result than you’ve ever dreamed of. He’s working in the shadows, behind the scenes preparing, placing and positioning you – you’re empowered to do something you wouldn’t have even thought of. It’s your time.
Now the events of most days of our lives are too ordinary for us to notice that (washing up, doing housework, going to a 9-5 predictable job, dealing with car break downs, paying the mortgage and the bills, having a domestic argument, disciplining the children, dealing with difficult circumstances, battling a health situation, changing the nappies, cleaning up sick in the middle of the night) The ordinariness of our lives is not going to tell you what I’ve just told you.
Realise right now, with no mood music playing, sat here in the cold sober light of day, going through all that you’re going through, living whatever life you’re living, battling with whatever you’re battling…in spite of all that – this is your time to make a difference!
If you’ve read any part of your Bible then you would know that God specializes in the ordinary, mundane, out of the way, no-hopers, also ran people. Everything around us can say ordinary but everything within us says extraordinary and significant.
So often we feel that we can’t do everything and therefore we don’t do anything. The people that God has put into your life are there for a purpose (our significant others) We can press the pause button on our busy lives and intentionally get our minds off ourselves and instead be mindful to be a blessing. What does it mean to be mindful? It means to have your mind full of ways that you can be a blessing – and do it on purpose. There are so many ways we can be good and show kindness to people – a simple phone call, a note written to someone, taking time to listen to someone and showing an interest, a financial blessing, praying with someone, a lift home – one man’s good deed is another man’s miracle. It doesn’t have to take a lot of money, just some creativity and thought. People are starving for somebody, anybody to show them the love of God. You’ll be amazed at how your life will change by simply getting your mind off yourself, your problem, your wants, your needs. Leave your list of ‘I wants’ in God’s hands. Instead, concentrate on being a blessing wherever you go. You’ll be surprised at how many of the ‘I wants’ on your list will be taken care of while you are caring for others. It will help us to not be tight-fisted with our lives but to be open handed “The world of the generous gets larger and larger, the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller” Be generous with your life and your world will open up for you.
