Festival of Fools
Well today has been packed solid - garden duties, packing for my baby girl going to Scotland tomorrow with her school, Festival of Fools in town and getting Emily out to the Sea Cadets tonight - was this not meant to be a Bank Holiday??? But honestly, it's been lovely. Emily goes to Scotland on Tuesday (the day my new bed arrives - wooo hooooo!) until Friday and as much as I will miss the little princess, I'm so glad to have some alone time with David
David and I are 15 years married 17th June - so we have decided to have a huge party at our home on Saturday 19th June to celebrate - everyone's invited - yes, even you :) We had a cappuccino and a good old natter in Starbucks (while Emily and her BFF sat on the opposite side of the room - looking cool, away from us o.a.p.s) just reflecting on the years we've been together. We laughed at the memories of when we first started going out together and how a few people imparted their wisdom to us - by telling us we were so wrong for each other and that we would never last, never be happy (beautiful words to announce over us!!!) Well 15 years later and more in love and committed to one another than ever, here we are. Sure, we have a few battle scars and it's been difficult at times but he's my best friend and I adore him. He makes me laugh like no-one else and has a deep, thoughtful side that many people don't stick around to see. But here's the important ingredient - he is a man after God's heart and together we are on this incredible journey, loving God, loving each other.
I've been pondering this quote by CS Lewis today: "God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing." How important it is to have God at the centre of our lives - our thinking, our relationships, our decisions, our marriage. Roll on Tuesday!!!!
